Overview

A full-stack digital solution bridging the gap between premium local restaurants and food enthusiasts. The project involved a high-performance mobile app for iOS and Android, a web-based restaurant dashboard, and real-time order tracking, with a heavy emphasis on secure payment processing.

The problem

The client, a food tech startup, wanted to compete with established delivery platforms (Glovo, Jumia Food) by focusing on premium restaurants and a curated in-app experience. The core technical challenge was building a real-time system: customers needed live order status updates, restaurants needed an instant notification system for new orders, and delivery partners needed live navigation updates, all simultaneously. On top of this, the startup needed a secure, scalable payment system that could handle peak traffic (Friday/Saturday evenings) without downtime.

What we did

We architected a cross-platform React Native app with a Node.js backend, using Socket.io to power the three-way real-time communication layer between customers, restaurants, and delivery riders. Each stakeholder got a purpose-built interface: a consumer-facing app, a restaurant operations dashboard (web-based), and a rider companion app. The payment system was integrated via a PCI-compliant gateway with AES-256 encryption for PII. A rate-limited, CORS-controlled REST API served as the secure data layer across all three interfaces.

Our role

Lead developer and security architect, designed the system architecture, built the React Native consumer app, the restaurant web dashboard, the rider companion app, and the Node.js/Express/MongoDB backend. Implemented all third-party integrations (Socket.io, payment gateway, push notifications) and security layers.
